The archetypal hood.
The colorful aluminum sheet cover of Pleat and Fold hoods look like an archetypal roof. The elementary shape of this roof-surface gives the feeling of a simple, friendly object, and hides the technological complexity of the suction device, bringing it back to the iconic nature of the ancestral chimney. The Pleat and Fold hoods are objects with a visual identity and personality of their own, like a pendant lamp or a piece of furniture, and therefore can be used in very different kitchens and style contexts.

Symmetry and composition.
The suspended hood of the Pleat system consists of a modular central suction device to which a pair of folded covering sheets is applied. If you choose to combine two identical sheets you obtain a symmetrical module, suggesting the same use of the worktop on both sides of the kitchen island. But you can also choose to have two different sheets, obtaining an asymmetrical shape, which suggests the two sides of the kitchen island can have different functions.
On the side of the kitchen where a person is cooking, the sheet is folded to constitute a possible support surface. On the opposite side, the diagonal metal sheet resembles the awning of a street food cart, inviting approaching the kitchen top to - say - get dishes or something to drink.

A variation on this idea is the Fold wall-mounted hood, a hood designed to leave as much space as possible for the movements and heads of those who work on the hob. The motor is moved to the top, while the removable filters are positioned at the bottom of the system. The cover aluminum sheet is folded in order to obtain a small shelf which can be used as a support for a book of recipes or mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets to watch cooking videos on.
The aluminum sheet covers are cut according to the extension of the modular central device. The sides, which contain the central device, are shaped according to the type of combination of the two covers.
